Is summer horror in the forecast? It’s been almost a year now since any news dropped about another sequel to the 1997 horror hit I Know What You Did Last Summer, but this week one of the original film’s stars expressed enthusiasm about the project.
On the podcast Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum, Jennifer Love Hewitt said she would be “100 percent” on board for another chapter in the franchise. “I loved making those movies,” she said. “I’d do it–for sure.”
While Hewitt’s casting is still up in the air, what is known is that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has signed on to direct the Sony Pictures film from a screenplay by Leah McKendrick. In addition, Neal H. Moritz reportedly is planning to produce the sequel.
The original I Know What You Did Last Summer–directed by Jim Gillespie from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson–stars Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe.
Loosely based on the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan, the film follows four young friends who are being stalked by a hook-wielding killer one year after they covered up a car accident during which they supposedly killed a man.
