GWEN Stefani’s fans have criticized her latest career achievement after Blake Shelton received the same milestone months earlier.It was revealed on Tuesday that Gwen, 54, will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.Fans claimed this was unfair as her husband, Blake, 47, had his Star unveiled back in May.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame posted a professional headshot of Gwen on Instagram to announce her Star.
“Multi-platinum recording artist, fashion icon, and ‘The Voice’ coach, Gwen Stefani will be honored on Thursday, October 19, at 11:30 a.m. with the 2,764th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the post read.
“The star will be unveiled at 6212 Hollywood Blvd. next to Amoeba Music. Stefani will be honored with her star in the category of Recording.”The post concluded: “There will be a street closure between Argyle and El Centro beginning at 10 a.m. Catch the Livestream on Walkoffame.com”
It was shared jointly with Gwen’s account on Instagram.
Social media fans flooded the post with congratulatory comments for Gwen.
“That would be EPIC and amazing and would save me the walk!,” one said.
Another added: “This is so exciting !! Soooo deserved!”
However, other followers were confused by the fact Gwen got the Star after her husband.
One commenter said: “She should have got it before Blake.”
Someone retaliated by saying: “Stop it! He’s a superstar too and deserves his star.”
But the original commenter replied: “Didn’t say he didn’t deserve it, but she was around first what a slap in the face.”
Blake’s star was gifted in May, which was the 2,755th star on the Walk of Fame and dedicated to him in the category of Recording.
FANS SPEAK OUT
Fans were concerned that Blake got the star first when they felt Gwen had seemingly done more in the industry.
“About damn time,” someone wrote and another agreed, adding: FINALLY.”
Gwen and Blake met while coaching on the Voice. The TV personality revealed she was “struggling” on the show after he quit and left her alone.
Gwen said: “I’m going to have to take my wallet out to get some people on my team.”
Niall responded by grabbing his phone and pretending to speak to Blake: “I’m calling Blake for backup!
Gwen then said: “I already texted him. I’m struggling!”
However, later on in the show, she gained one more singer on her team.
Blake left the show after 23 seasons, which his wife claimed was to spend more “time with family.” It was then revealed that Gwen would rejoin the team the season after he left.
This week, Blake announced he would be returning for season 2 of Barmageddon.
