The whole sheer-dress-over-retro-lingerie thing has been popping up quite a bit on the red carpet lately — Julianne Hough and Lena Headey both rocked the trend at the Emmys. Would you ever work it? Our take: if you’re gonna show off a ton of skin, keep the rest of your look simple. Note Maria’s one piece of jewelry (statement earring for color) and basic black pointy pumps (no strappy sitch here…you’re naked enough). Also good? Hair that doesn’t look like you’ve primped it for hours (even if you did, in fact, spend a bit of time on it).
So, we’re kind of digging this look on Maria. She’s one of the biggest female tennis stars in the world, but Maria Sharapova’s endurance levels have been really put to the test at Paris Fashion Week. The 28-year-old sportswoman has flitted from show to show over the past few days and on Tuesday she put on a stylish display at Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2016 Show.
The athletic beauty headed straight for the FROW having dashed to the venue from Chanel’s spectacular terminal-themed offering. The Russian sportswoman showcased her gym-honed frame in a black, short-sleeved mini dress comprised of a colourful leaf motif.
The flirty frock also featured a sheer breast panel which offered a sneak peak at the black bandeau bra she was wearing beneath. The detailed number cut several inches above the knee and put her long lithe legs proudly on display. She rounded off her outfit with patent brogues and carried her daytime essentials in a cute slouchy clutch. The talented tennis pro wore her soft blonde tresses in a centre parting and held her sunglasses in her hand as she posed for photos outside the event. But Maria wasn’t the only big name at the event, as Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton also made an appearance.
