Hilary Duff just shared a new bikini picture to Instagram showing off her strong abs, and the mom of two said she’s been working really hard to stay fit.
In the post, Duff wrote that she’s been counting macros under the guidance of her fitness coach. “It’s truly helped me stay lean even while eating bread, chocolate, and wine!” she said. The 32-year-old actress also said she’s been doing Nova Body workouts, which include high-intensity exercises that combine weight lifting, cardio, and core work to target specific muscle groups.
“[I’m] grateful I have found what works for me,” Duff wrote. “I know it’s extra hard to keep up and find normalcy in quarantine but I truly hope you make at least 30 mins a day for yourself to stay connected. Do whatever feels good for you even if it’s not food or fitness related!”
Duff has always been pretty open about her focus on health and fitness. The actress told Health that meal prepping with veggies, rice, and lean meat helps her make healthy choices throughout the week. “I love to be naughty and eat things that taste delicious, but when I do meal prep, I feel like I make a few more sensible choices throughout the week,” she said.
She also told the outlet that making time for workouts is a priority, and HIIT exercises like squats, jumps, and sprints keeps her in shape. “I’m a very hyper person, so it’s good for me to get my energy out like that,” she said. “It just feels good. On occasion it makes me more tired and other times it makes me feel great and I’m just like, ‘Yes, I got this day, anything, bring it my way, I can do it.’ Plus, I like to eat, indulge, and drink wine, so thank God I love to work out, or else it would be a huge issue.”
In addition to HIIT, Duff previously told Prevention.com that she loves Pilates and weightlifting. “My exercise routine tends to change depending on what I’m into at the moment,” Duff said in January. “Sometimes I’m on a Pilates kick, and recently I was doing a lot of weightlifting to prep for my wedding. That was also helpful in taking off the baby weight!” (Duff gave birth to her daughter Banks in 2018).
The actress has also come a long way when it comes to body confidence. After describing herself as “too thin” in her teens, Duff shared how her body image has shifted since she became a mother to Luca, 8.
“Since websites and magazines love to share ‘celeb flaws’—well I have them! My body has given me the greatest gift of my life: Luca,” she wrote in an Instagram in 2017. “My body is healthy and gets me where I need to go. Ladies, let’s be proud of what we’ve got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed.”
